La Florida Update - Finished and Open

May 7th, 2008

Welcome to AMG's childcare center "Maranatha"!! Since December, this center has been undergoing a complete reconstruction. The old building was torn down in December (see older posts) and today the new building was innaugurated during a service held inside of the childcare center. Here are some pictures of the innaguration and the new center:

Gathering for the service:

A time of praise and worship. Some of you may recognize the drummer - Alex, the Director from the Last Vistas School!

The ribbon ceremony:

Our Director, Luis, thanking everyone for their hard work.

New classrooms...

...and bathrooms

And a new patio as a play area on the roof!

Everything new!

This banner showing AMG's mission statement was hanging front and center during the ceremony and will stay to serve as a reminder of our work in the ministry:

"To give each person an opportunity to hear and respond to a clear presentation of the gospel of Jesus Christ".

Thank you to everyone for your continued prayers and support. If you'd like, you can start praying for the new San Juan childcare center. This childcare center in western Guatemala is in a small, rented house and we are praying about relocating it and building a new facility. We have a piece of land and have plans and an estimate to build a new center with capacity for a lot more children. Would you pray with us about this?

I've been coming to Guatemala since the age of 17, in 1993. God put a beautiful spark of love in my heart for this immense and great country. I happened across your blog by chance, but wanted to say how impressed I am by the work that you're all doing down there. I've been working on and off for almost 10 years with The Servant's Heart Ministry in Guatemala City, nearby Zone 7, as their videographer. It's been some of the most rewarding work of my life, and something I feel the need to do more full time. Again, blessings on you , and your family and your work.
