I thought the title would catch your eye....at least those of you who like to shop! (I didn't even mention the word "ladies") ....One of the subjects we teach in our largest school of 800 children in Guatemala City is English, otherwise knows as EFL (English as a Foreign Language). Learning English provides many future opportunities for Guatemalan Children. Our English program now includes students from kindergarten age all the way up through high school students. We have four dedicated teachers for our English program who are very creative and are always looking for new ways to teach the children. Robin has been helping in the English classes for some time now. Recently, she and the teachers decided to have a "Day at the Supermarket" to help teach the children the English words for different types of grocery items and the shopping process. Today is the day! As each of the students line up for class, they are given a pre-made "shopping list". They take the list and their pretend money and go through the different sections of the supermarket to collect their items. Then they go to the check-out and pay for the groceries. Throughout all of this they have to speak only English. As you can see, they are having a great time. When I went out to take pictures, one of the English teachers said to me "Your wife is going to be very tired after today!".
